ODM, by contrast, involves the manufacturer offering their existing designs that you can brand as your own, often with some customization options.

Intellectual property protection is a legitimate concern for B2B buyers investing in custom valve designs. Professional Chinese manufacturers understand these concerns and are increasingly accustomed to formal IP protection arrangements. Before sharing detailed technical drawings or proprietary designs, establish a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that clearly defines confidential information, permitted use, and consequences of breach. Many manufacturers have standard NDA templates, but having your own reviewed by legal counsel familiar with Chinese IP law provides stronger protection.
